Synopsis

Pikachu and Piplup become inseparably infatuated with each other because of Professor Kodama’s experimental machine, which affects Water- and Electric-type pairs all over town. The two Pokémon collide during training and suddenly cling together, and every attempt to separate them fails, while Nurse Joy reports other Pokémon in the same state.

Brock notices that every affected pair is one Water-type and one Electric-type. Nearby, Team Rocket, hired to clean Kodama’s lab, learn that his “Affinity-Enabler” broadcasts an Attract-like effect intended to make his feuding Magnemite and Quagsire get along, and Meowth plans to use it to make Pikachu love him.

The group trace the effect to the lab, Kodama exposes Team Rocket, and the trio fly off with the machine and grab Pikachu and Piplup. Quagsire launches Magnemite at the balloon, whose shock snaps the ropes and wrecks the machine, ending the effect. Staraptor rescues the pair, and it turns out Magnemite and Quagsire were only training partners, never enemies.
