The Needs of the Three! is the 46th episode of Pokémon DP: Galactic Battles, the twelfth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 613th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 618, Bulbapedia code DP151). It first aired in Japan on 12 November 2009 and in the United States on 3 April 2010. It falls within the season’s Team Galactic’s endgame stretch (EP148–EP152).
Synopsis
Pokémon Hunter J captures Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie for Team Galactic, but her ship is struck down into Lake Valor, and the Lake Guardians teleport Ash, Dawn and Brock into Team Galactic’s headquarters. The friends share a dream of the three Pokémon fleeing dark energy, while at Lake Valor J’s cloaked airship drops a Galactic Bomb that opens the lake to Azelf’s hidden dimension, Saturn’s Toxicroak holding Gary back.
Salamence’s Hyper Beam and J’s bracelet freeze Azelf, and when Mesprit and Uxie arrive, J captures them too. Cynthia drives the group towards Lake Valor while Team Rocket and Looker infiltrate Team Galactic on Mount Coronet. The captured trio’s Future Sight cripples J’s ship, which sinks into the lake, leaving the fate of J and her crew unknown.
At headquarters Charon attaches Red Chain fragments to the Lake Guardians, causing them pain, just as Ash, Dawn and Brock appear. Cyrus reveals himself as Team Galactic’s leader and announces his plan to create a new world, and Pikachu and Piplup smash the containment cells as Croagunk faces Saturn’s Toxicroak.
