Synopsis
Ash catches the Gible that has been following him, his first new Pokémon since Gligar, in the season finale. Gible eats Team Rocket’s latest mecha, bonds with Ash and refuses capture by eating his Poké Ball, then bites Officer Jenny and chews a park bench.
Barry arrives on a new bicycle with six Badges, challenges Ash and wants to catch Gible himself, but Gible eats his bike. Barry’s Empoleon overpowers Gible and knocks it over a cliff with Hydro Cannon; Ash saves it, but Team Rocket capture it with a second mecha, and Pikachu frees Ash before breaking Gible out with Iron Tail.
Gible finally agrees to join Ash, who catches it with a Poké Ball. Barry immediately challenges Ash to a battle with Empoleon, and Gible loses but earns praise for its spirit. Afterwards it eats Barry’s ticket, and the group continue towards Daybreak Town for Dawn’s Contest and Ash’s Sunyshore Gym battle.
