Piplup, Up and Away! is the 7th episode of Pokémon DP: Sinnoh League Victors, the thirteenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 626th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 631, Bulbapedia code DP164). It first aired in Japan on 18 February 2010 and in the United States on 17 July 2010. It falls within the season’s Infernape, Volkner & Sunyshore Tower stretch (EP163–EP166).
Synopsis
Dawn’s Piplup, fed up with being hit by Gible’s misfiring Draco Meteor, runs away and learns Hydro Pump. After yet another stray meteor strikes him and everyone seems to side with Gible, Piplup storms off into the forest, where a wild Rhyperior attacks him with Flash Cannon.
Team Rocket, disguised as the “Pokémon Rescue Corps”, befriend the sulking Piplup and persuade him to lure Pikachu into an electricity-proof cage. Still in disguise, Jessie and James lecture Ash and Dawn about neglecting Piplup, and the two realise they owe him an apology. The Rhyperior returns and its Flash Cannon blasts open the cage, freeing Pikachu and Piplup, and Dawn hugs her partner as Ash apologises.
Team Rocket drop their disguises and attack with Seviper and Carnivine. Grotle’s Energy Ball knocks out Seviper, but Carnivine’s Vine Whip sends Piplup flying. Piplup gets back up and unleashes his first Hydro Pump, blasting Team Rocket off. The Rhyperior’s Trainer arrives to apologise, and the group continues towards Sunyshore City.
