The Battle According to Lenora! is the 15th episode of Pokémon: Black & White, the fourteenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 668th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 673, Bulbapedia code BW015). It first aired in Japan on 6 January 2011 and in the United States on 14 May 2011. It falls within the season’s Nacrene City & the Meteonite stretch (EP14–EP17).
Synopsis
Ash challenges Nacrene Gym Leader Lenora and loses, his only official Gym defeat in Unova. After a tour of the museum, Lenora tests Ash by asking him to choose a book; when he pulls out a history of Unova, a bookcase slides aside to reveal the stairs to her basement battlefield.
In a two-on-two battle with substitutions, Lillipup’s Roar forces Tepig back into its Poké Ball and drags out Oshawott. Lenora switches to Watchog, whose Mean Look traps Oshawott while Low Kick and Thunderbolt knock it out. Tepig returns against Lillipup, which dodges Tackle and wins with Shadow Ball and Take Down. Ash takes the blame, and Lenora invites him back for a rematch.
Nurse Joy suggests he train at the town’s Battle Club. That night James switches off the museum’s infrared sensors for twenty seconds while Jessie and Meowth swap the Meteonite for a decoy and escape. The next morning Don George, who knows Lenora’s tactics, agrees to help Ash prepare.
