Synopsis

In Driftveil City, Gym Leader Clay turns down Ash’s challenge, and the group helps the masked hero Accelguard foil a frozen-food heist by the villain Cryogonal Man. Clay is too busy searching an underground vein to battle, so a biker named Charles and his Accelgor take the group to the market, where a thief’s sunglasses-wearing Ducklett snatches fruit and burns Ash with Scald.

Accelguard and his Accelgor appear on a rooftop and chase the thief, but Linda and her Timburr make the arrest, and Linda suspects that Charles is the hero. Meanwhile, Dr. Ferrara’s Team Vanillite has been stealing frozen goods to bribe Ice-type Pokémon into helping him take over Unova, and Linda is captured when she investigates the Cold Storage. On Milos Island, Team Rocket wreck Tornadus’s shrine.

At the warehouse Oshawott slides across the frozen floor into Ferrara, and Linda orders Charles into costume, which finally tells Ash who Accelguard is. Ferrara transforms into Cryogonal Man but sends out a Vanillish, admitting that Cryogonal was too hard to catch. Pikachu and Timburr beat his Vanillite, Accelgor dodges Sheer Cold and wins with Struggle Bug and Swift, and Accelguard rides off.
