Synopsis
Alder defeats Trip in the Junior Cup’s prize battle, Dawn sets off for Johto, and the group meets a scatterbrained Trainer named Cameron. Bouffalant absorbs Serperior’s opening Solar Beam with its Ability, Sap Sipper, and although Trip’s plan of Leer followed by Dragon Tail to Bouffalant’s unguarded underside works, a single Head Charge wins the match. Alder tells Trip that he did nothing wrong but must learn to feel the bond with his Pokémon, and Trip promises to meet Ash at the Unova League.
Cameron and his Riolu arrive after the tournament has ended. Back at Cynthia’s villa Dawn announces that she is leaving for the Wallace Cup in Johto, and her farewell battle with Ash, Quilava against Pikachu, ends in a draw. At the airport Oshawott and Piplup embrace before Dawn flies off. Meanwhile, Team Rocket’s hidden camera tracks Meloetta as Dr. Zager’s submarine enters the undersea ruins.
Cameron, who was meant to be on Dawn’s flight, thinks the Unova League is in Ecruteak City and has only seven of the eight Badges he needs. Cynthia’s butler Jervis suggests the Gym in Humilau City, and the group decides to go along and watch Cameron’s battle.
