Synopsis

At a Pokémon Nursery in Undella Town, Cilan helps a jealous Vullaby and a Rufflet become friends. During training, a rock shard from Scraggy’s now-mastered Focus Blast hits a Rufflet, which blames a nearby Vullaby, and the two start fighting until a young nursery worker named Layla arrives and both birds run to her.

At the nursery Vullaby resents the praise Layla gives Rufflet for cracking the Pokémon’s food shells. A misfired attack sets off a brawl in which Vullaby uses Punishment on Karrablast, Petilil and Whimsicott, and Meloetta’s song calms everyone. When Layla gently says that Vullaby went too far, it misunderstands and runs away.

Layla and Cilan find Vullaby fleeing angry Amoonguss, and Vullaby and Rufflet defend Layla together while Crustle’s Rock Slide blocks the attackers. On the way back an old bridge collapses; Pignite carries a log across the gap, but the wind blows Rufflet and Vullaby into the river, and Layla dives in to rescue them. The birds make peace and listen to Meloetta’s song that evening, unaware that Team Rocket and Dr. Zager are recording it to complete their data and report to Giovanni.
