Synopsis
Ash learns about the Fairy type when Penelope’s Sylveon beats Froakie, then rescues Sylveon and a timid boy from Team Rocket at her kindergarten. Penelope insists on a battle under the Trainer rule; Sylveon’s Fairy Wind and Moonblast miss and Froakie dazes it with Water Pulse, but Attract leaves Froakie smitten and Draining Kiss wins.
At the kindergarten where Penelope works, the children play with the group’s Pokémon, except Randall, who has feared Pokémon since a Hoppip he tried to befriend accidentally hurt him during a Beedrill scare. Team Rocket, posing as performers, lure the children to a show, release smoke and drive off with Pikachu and Sylveon.
Ash clings to the truck and climbs in, finding Randall and Froakie trapped as well; moved by Sylveon’s sadness, Randall helps them smash the glass. At Team Rocket’s warehouse Froakie’s Water Pulse and Pikachu’s Thunderbolt and Electro Ball defeat Pumpkaboo and Inkay. Back at school Randall tells of his heroism, befriends Froakie and says he wants to become a Trainer, and Ash promises him a battle someday.
