Plot episodeKorrina arc, part 3Mega Lucario loses control
The Aura Storm! is the 31st episode of Pokémon the Series: XY, the seventeenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 826th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 832, Bulbapedia code XY032). It first aired in Japan on 12 June 2014 and in the United States on 23 August 2014. It falls within the season’s Korrina & Mega Lucario stretch (EP30–EP34).
Synopsis
Korrina’s newly Mega Evolved Lucario loses control during a battle with Ash, and her grandfather sends her to train with a Mega Evolution expert on Pomace Mountain. Clemont measures Mega Lucario’s power, and in the battle its Bone Rush knocks away Pikachu’s Iron Tail and its Power-Up Punches stop Quick Attack.
Lucario’s eyes glow red, it ignores Korrina’s orders and savagely swings Pikachu by the tail; Ash shields his injured partner until Gurkinn’s own Lucario blocks the attack and Korrina’s collapses and reverts. At the Pokémon Center Gurkinn explains that a Pokémon can be overwhelmed by its own power and that, as a Gym Leader, Korrina must learn to control Mega Evolution, and McGinty fits the Lucarionite to an armband.
Gurkinn challenges Korrina, and both Lucario Mega Evolve. His Lucario blocks Power-Up Punch with its Aura and lands an Aura Sphere, and hers turns wild again, ignores an order to use Swords Dance and is knocked out by another Aura Sphere. Gurkinn blames Lucario’s overconfidence and Korrina’s poor understanding of her partner and sends her to Pomace Mountain, and Ash and his friends offer to go with her.
