Calling from Beyond the Aura! is the 32nd episode of Pokémon the Series: XY, the seventeenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 827th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 833, Bulbapedia code XY033). It first aired in Japan on 19 June 2014 and in the United States on 30 August 2014. It falls within the season’s Korrina & Mega Lucario stretch (EP30–EP34).
Synopsis
On the way to Pomace Mountain, Korrina’s Mega Lucario briefly regains control while protecting her from Team Rocket, before losing it again. In a practice battle Lucario acts without Korrina’s commands, and over lunch Korrina recalls her childhood battles with her grandfather while Team Rocket, overhearing talk of Mega Evolution, plan to steal Lucario, the Lucarionite and the Key Stone.
In a cave shortcut James’s Inkay attacks a Noibat and the whole colony chases the group, splitting them up: Ash, Serena, Bonnie and Lucario on one side, Clemont, Pikachu and Korrina on the other. That night Korrina confides her doubts to Clemont, and in the morning Team Rocket’s Pokémon, armoured with “Mecha Evolution” devices, overpower Bunnelby, Chespin and Pikachu as Korrina’s commands to Pikachu go wrong.
Fletchling leads Ash’s group to the others, and Lucario blocks Meowth’s grab for the Key Stone and asks to Mega Evolve. Mega Lucario hits Pumpkaboo with Bone Rush, then turns on its friends, stopping only when Korrina shouts its name; back in control, it blasts Team Rocket away with Bone Rush before losing control again and collapsing. Clemont says they still have a way to go, and Ash believes they will get there.
