Synopsis
Faba kidnaps Nebby to open an Ultra Wormhole and win back Lusamine’s favour, and when Nebby evolves into Cosmoem the portal reopens and a Nihilego carries Lusamine away. At Aether Paradise, Lusamine, Wicke and Professor Burnet discuss the laboratory incident, but no one has found Faba. At the Pokémon School, Lillie happily greets each of her friends’ Pokémon now that she can touch them again. Gladion arrives at Aether Paradise and angrily insists that the family find Faba themselves rather than leave it to the Foundation. Back at school, Professor Kukui introduces jump rope, and while Ash, Pikachu and then all of the Pokémon join in, Nebby sleeps in Ash’s backpack beside Rowlet—unaware that Faba is watching from behind the fence, planning to use its power to open an Ultra Wormhole.
Faba lures Nebby out of the backpack with Star Candy, but Team Rocket, selling malasadas nearby, notice. Faba swings his net and catches Jessie’s Wobbuffet instead, Team Rocket grab Nebby and run, and Faba gives chase—until Nebby teleports him straight to Bewear, which carries everyone back to its den. Nebby teleports itself back to the school, and Faba, impressed by its psychic power, decides to make use of it. Rowlet raises the alarm about Nebby’s disappearance just in time for the class to watch Nebby teleport Faba to his research site. Gladion reaches the school, the classmates meet him for the first time, and everyone concludes that Faba is at Aether Paradise. Lillie arranges for Hobbes to fly them there.
In his laboratory, Faba traps Nebby inside a machine that draws on its power until an Ultra Wormhole begins to form. Ash, Gladion and Lillie meet Lusamine and hurry to the research area, but Faba refuses to stop the device. With help from Pikachu and Gladion’s Umbreon, Ash frees Nebby, and the wormhole shuts—until Nebby suddenly evolves into Cosmoem, and the portal opens again. A Nihilego emerges and knocks Faba unconscious. Lusamine’s Clefable is overpowered, and every attack the group tries fails as the Ultra Beast drifts towards Lillie. Gladion steps forward to shield his sister, but Lusamine moves in front of both of her children and is seized by the Nihilego, which carries her into the wormhole before it closes behind them.
