Synopsis
In the Ultra Deep Sea, Ash and his friends find Lusamine fused with a Nihilego and battle her controlled Pokémon one by one, until Lillie reaches her mother’s Clefable with a hug. The group emerges into a gloomy dimension of floating, jagged stone islands and is immediately surrounded by Nihilego, which Gladion identifies as the kind of Ultra Beast that took his mother. Back at the Altar of the Sunne, Professors Kukui and Burnet set up a station to monitor the wormhole and fire a marker to guide the children home, while Bewear crushes Team Rocket in another hug. When everyone sends out their Pokémon and Nebby roars, Lusamine appears with open eyes, merged with a Nihilego; Rotom’s facial recognition confirms who she is. She orders the intruders to stay away, raises a wall of jagged rock when Lillie runs towards her, and declares that she will never give up her Ultra Beast.
Lusamine flees up a rocky staircase and shouts that she hates everyone, shrugging off Pikachu’s Thunderbolt, Turtonator’s Flamethrower, Marowak’s Bonemerang and Lycanroc’s Stone Edge behind her barriers, though Nebby glows and passes straight through them. Lillie decides that her mother is not thinking clearly. Lusamine sends out a Salazzle wrapped in an eerie aura, and Kiawe stays behind to fight it, finally winning by combining Turtonator’s Inferno Overdrive with Marowak’s Bonemerang. Next come Milotic, Mismagius and Lilligant. Lana, Mallow and Sophocles hold them off with Popplio’s Bubble Beam, Steenee’s Double Slap and Togedemaru’s Lightning Rod, while Ash’s Litten and Rowlet join in—though Lilligant’s Sweet Scent keeps luring Rowlet, and its Teeter Dance confuses the whole group. Ash, Lillie and Gladion press on alone.
When they catch up again, Lusamine sends out Absol, which Gladion’s Umbreon has sparred with before; Gladion stays to fight it, but its Ice Beam freezes Silvally’s legs and Mean Look traps Umbreon and Lycanroc. Lusamine then sets Clefable on Ash and Lillie. Lillie says that she will face Clefable herself, calling it her best friend, while Ash rides Nebby after her mother. With Lycanroc’s Accelerock and Rock Throw and Snowy’s Powder Snow, Lillie holds off Clefable’s Moonblast and Dazzling Gleam, then signals her Pokémon to stop and steps forward holding an old Poké Doll, remembering the years she and Clefable spent together. As Clefable unleashes another Dazzling Gleam, Lillie embraces it through the light. Her persistence works: Clefable returns to normal and smiles, while Ash and Pikachu keep chasing Lusamine across the Ultra Deep Sea.
