For a little over twelve years, Pokémon Trading Card Game Online let people play the card game on a screen, and premade decks sat at the heart of it. From the beta that opened in March 2011 to the day the servers shut on 5 June 2023, most ready-to-play decks sold in shops included a code card that unlocked a digital copy. The game also added decks of its own: starter decks that got better with every win, a free deck for logging in, decks unlocked with shop code words, and full 60-card decks tucked inside collector tins. This page gathers every premade deck we could trace, from the HeartGold & SoulSilver theme decks in the early shop to the Mew VMAX League Battle Deck of late 2022. The decks are grouped by kind and broadly by date, with the expansion or product each came from, its main Energy types, the Pokémon it was built around and how you got hold of it. Where the record is patchy, we say so.
Premade decks reached players in three main ways. From Black & White onwards, theme decks, Trainer Kits, battle decks and some tins came with a code card; redeeming it placed a sealed copy of the deck in your collection. The in-game shop also sold theme decks for Trainer Tokens, including HeartGold & SoulSilver decks that never had codes. A few decks were simply given away: starter decks for new accounts, a Daily Login Bonus deck and tutorial rewards. Development stopped on 1 March 2023. When accounts moved to Pokémon TCG Live, cards from Black & White onwards came across, but saved deck lists did not, unopened decks became in-game currency, and unopened deck tins became their promo card.
This list goes with our main Pokémon TCG Online guide, where the Theme Decks section explains how the different deck formats worked. Box art is shown for each deck; select a box to see it larger.

Online starter decks
New players were handed a small set of online-only starter decks that began weak and improved as they were used. Each win in the Trainer Challenge swapped a filler card for a better one, and after seven different opponents the deck was fully unlocked for Versus play. The line-up was replaced three times.

HeartGold & SoulSilver theme decks
The HeartGold & SoulSilver theme decks came out before the game had code cards, so their boxes unlocked nothing. Online copies could only be bought from the in-game shop. Their cards stayed behind when collections moved to Pokémon TCG Live in 2023.

Let’s Play theme decks
Released in May 2019 to tie in with Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Let’s Go, Eevee!, these two beginner theme decks each included a code card that let the same deck be played in the online game.
Sword & Shield theme decks
The last theme decks came with the first four Sword & Shield expansions in 2020. They dropped the old two-word names and were simply named after their star Pokémon. After Vivid Voltage, the V Battle Decks took over their role.

Trivia
- Three of the earliest online starter decks were renamed later on: Basic Red was first called Firestarter, Basic Green was Blade of Grass, and Basic Blue was Breaking Wave.
- Mental Might took over from Basic Orange as the new-player Daily Login Bonus deck on 13 August 2014, with patch 2.22.0.755.
- The shop code words that once unlocked Power Relay (such as plasmastorm and plasmablast) were later switched over to Rallying Cry, which could be claimed that way until 29 October 2019.
- Tin decks could be traded while still sealed, but once opened, 53 of their 60 cards were locked. Only the featured promo and six holofoil basic Energy could change hands.
- During the move to Pokémon TCG Live, an unopened XY or Sun & Moon tin that would have unlocked a 60-card deck was converted into a single copy of that tin’s promo card.
- The Tutorial Mode Deck could never be added to a collection, and its full 60-card list appeared only in the tutorial match against Otis.
