Neo Series
The Johto era that brought Generation II to the TCG — and the first Shining Pokémon.
The Neo Series (2000–2001) introduced Generation II and the 100 Johto Pokémon to the TCG. It added Baby Pokémon, the Darkness and Metal types, and the striking Shining Pokémon — early alternate-colour chase cards prized by collectors to this day.
Across four expansions — Neo Genesis, Discovery, Revelation and Destiny — the era tied in with Pokémon Gold and Silver and introduced the Light and Dark Pokémon that hinted at a Pokémon’s temperament. It was among the last of the Wizards of the Coast years.
