Unified Minds is the set that went big and then went bigger. Released in August 2019, SM11 packs a staggering 236 cards into the numbered set (258 with secret rares), making it one of the largest English expansions ever printed — a genuine ocean of cards stitched together from three separate Japanese sets.
At the centre of it all sits one of the most important cards of the whole era: Mewtwo & Mew-GX. Its Perfection ability lets it copy the attacks of any Tag Team or GX Pokémon in your discard pile, turning a single card into a universal toolbox that could play whatever the situation demanded. It reshaped deckbuilding for its entire Standard lifespan.
Around it, Unified Minds delivered a franchise-record eight Tag Team Pokémon-GX — Rowlet & Alolan Exeggutor, Espeon & Deoxys, Umbreon & Darkrai, Garchomp & Giratina and more — plus format staples like Reset Stamp (a comeback button that survived multiple rotations) and Cherish Ball.
Reception was strong. Between the enormous card pool, the eight Tag Teams, a deep secret-rare lineup and a metagame-defining headliner, Unified Minds is remembered as one of the richest and most enduring sets of the Sun & Moon run.
Great Minds Work in Unity! To stay on top, your team must work as one! New TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX battle in flawless harmony in the Pokémon TCG: Sun & Moon—Unified Minds expansion, including Mewtwo & Mew-GX, Rowlet & Alolan Exeggutor-GX, Espeon & Deoxys-GX, Garchomp & Giratina-GX, Umbreon & Darkrai-GX, and more!
— Official Pokémon TCG: Sun & Moon—Unified Minds expansion description
Set Highlights: One Card, Every Attack
The biggest set yet — again. Unified Minds pushed the ceiling higher still: 236 cards in the main set, and 258 with its secret rares, made it the largest English expansion the TCG had released to that point. Eight Tag Team Pokémon-GX headlined, from Rowlet & Alolan Exeggutor-GX (1/236) to Garchomp & Giratina-GX (146/236).
Mewtwo & Mew-GX and “Perfection.” The set’s defining card was Mewtwo & Mew-GX (71/236). Its Perfection Ability let it use the attacks — including the GX attacks — of any Pokémon-GX or Pokémon-EX on your Bench or in your discard pile. In practice that turned one 270-HP attacker into a toolbox that could throw whatever punch the matchup needed, and the “Perfection” (or “Box”) deck became one of the most powerful and flexible archetypes of the 2019–2020 season.
New staples in the box. Two other cards from this set enjoyed a long shelf life. Reset Stamp gave every deck a way to shrink your opponent’s hand to just a few cards late in the game — a comeback tool that stuck around as a format staple — while Tag Switch helped shuffle Energy between the era’s big Tag Teams.
A collector’s marathon. All that generosity came at a cost: at 258 cards, Unified Minds was a genuinely daunting master set to complete, and its long run of secret rares (the Mewtwo & Mew-GX rainbow at 242/236 chief among them) kept the pull-rate conversation very much alive.

Variations between the Japanese and English language releases
Unified Minds is the biggest set of the entire Sun & Moon era, and it earned that title by pulling from three separate Japanese releases at once. The core was Miracle Twin (SM11, 115 cards), which arrived in Japan on May 31st, 2019, topped up with cards from the GG End (SM11b) and Sky Legend (SM10b) sub-sets. Rolled together for the West on August 2nd, 2019, that became a colossal 258 cards (236 numbered plus 22 secret rares).
The name says it all: the headline card is Mewtwo & Mew-GX, a TAG TEAM whose attack could copy the GX attack of almost any Pokémon-GX in your discard pile — one of the most flexible cards of the whole era. With three Japanese sets feeding into it, Unified Minds is a genuinely deep, sprawling set to collect.

For Collectors: Most Valuable Cards
Mewtwo & Mew-GX — #71/236
The flagship chase and the card that names the whole archetype. Between the Full Art (222) and Rainbow Rare (242), it’s the pull everyone wanted — and one of the best cards of the era to boot.
Garchomp & Giratina-GX — #146/236
A fearsome Dragon Tag Team with striking artwork — a collector favourite among the set’s eight pairings.
Umbreon & Darkrai-GX — #125/236
Two beloved dark-types on one card, with gorgeous full-art and rainbow versions that fly off collectors’ want-lists.
Rowlet & Alolan Exeggutor-GX — #1/236
Card #1 and one of the more charming (and lanky) Tag Teams — a fun, popular pull that also saw a bit of Grass-deck play.
Most Powerful Cards (Competitive Play)
Mewtwo & Mew-GX — #71/236
The defining toolbox of the format. Its Perfection ability copies any Tag Team/GX attack in your discard, letting one card answer almost any situation. It warped deckbuilding for its whole run.
Reset Stamp — #206/236
A comeback Item that shuffles the opponent’s hand down to a few cards when you’re behind on Prizes. It became a multi-year Standard staple and changed how the game handled comebacks.
Cherish Ball — #191/236
A consistency Item that searches out any Tag Team or GX Pokémon — a backbone of GX-based decks throughout the era (and a gold Secret Rare at 250).
Trivia & Pop Culture
- One of the biggest ever. At 236 base cards, Unified Minds is among the largest English expansions the TCG has ever printed.
- Three sets in one. The English release is a composite of three Japanese sets — Miracle Twin, GG End and Sky Legend — which is how it got so enormous.
- Eight Tag Teams. It featured eight Tag Team Pokémon-GX, the most in any single Sun & Moon-era set to that point.
- A toolbox for the ages. Mewtwo & Mew-GX’s copy-any-attack design made it one of the most influential cards of the format’s history.
