Synopsis

Professor Juniper and Fennel bring an ancient Archen back to life from a fossil, and the group help the confused Pokémon learn to fly. Juniper’s Plume Fossil, sent by Lenora, is restored using Musharna’s Dream Mist and Fennel’s machine, but the frightened Archen attacks everyone with Peck and falls asleep, while Team Rocket eavesdrop and Dr. Zager orders them to steal the data.

Archen wakes, smashes a window with Dragon Breath and escapes outside, refusing all food. Ash’s Tranquill tries to teach it to fly, Emolga’s failed Attract reveals that it is female, and its cries make sprouting seeds grow into a huge tree that bursts through the lab. Archen eats its fruit and evolves into Archeops, finally taking to the air.

Team Rocket attack, setting the tree ablaze with Night Shade, and Roggenrola and Oshawott help fight the fire. Archeops breaks out of an electric net with Dragon Breath and calls a flock of its kind, which it joins. Zager tells the trio that, although they lost Archeops, they have all the data they need.
