Reunion Battles In Nimbasa! is the 39th episode of Pokémon: Black & White, the fourteenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 692nd episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 697, Bulbapedia code BW039). It first aired in Japan on 7 July 2011 and in the United States on 29 October 2011. It falls within the season’s Don George’s Club Battle stretch (EP39–EP42).
Synopsis
Don George’s Club Battle tournament begins in Nimbasa Town, reuniting Ash with Trip, Bianca, Burgundy, Georgia, Stephan and Luke, and Ash wins his first-round match. Ash and Iris discover that they are in Nimbasa Town rather than Nimbasa City, while Team Rocket arrive in the city to plan their biggest scheme yet. Stephan’s Blitzle has evolved into Zebstrika, and Georgia trades insults with Iris again.
Commentator Freddy O’Martian introduces the event and the grand prize, a set of seven Driftveil wings. Georgia quickly defeats Sylvester, and the first-round draw pairs Ash with Burgundy, Cilan with Trip, Bianca with Stephan, Luke with Scooter and Iris with Jimmy Ray.
Ash chooses Palpitoad for its first battle. Burgundy’s Stoutland starts to freeze it with Ice Fang, but Palpitoad breaks free with Supersonic, fires Mud Shot into Stoutland’s mouth as it tries Fire Fang and wins with Hydro Pump. Trip dismisses the victory as luck, and Cilan and Trip take the field for their match.
