Synopsis
Chili leaves the Striaton Gym to Cress and turns up in Driftveil City, where Cilan helps him and his Pansear grow as a team. Chili challenges Cilan to a battle, but Pansage dodges every Fire move and wins with Rock Tomb, Dig and Solar Beam; when Chili blames Pansear’s missed Fire Blast, it scorches him with Flamethrower and runs off.
On a video call Cress explains that Chili left after a losing streak and battles too recklessly. Cilan finds his brother eating doughnuts, reminds him of their bond as triplets, and Chili admits he came for advice. They find Pansear sulking in a tree, and after Chili apologises it forgives him. On Milos Island, Team Rocket smash the wedge from Thundurus’s shrine, and storm clouds begin to gather.
Cilan evaluates Pansear, praising its Gluttony and its temper as a match for Chili, and suggests replacing one Fire move with Solar Beam. After training in the sun, Pansear learns it and uses it to defeat Ash’s Oshawott in a test battle. Chili sets off back to Striaton to help Cress, and Nurse Joy tells Ash that Clay has returned to his Gym.
