Synopsis
Iris’s Dragonite still ignores her orders but defeats Dawn’s Mamoswine, and Trip storms into the Junior Cup final. In the second round Trip’s Serperior beats Manning’s Heatmor with Solar Beam despite the type disadvantage, and Cilan’s Stunfisk defeats Horatio’s Cinccino with Sludge Bomb.
Between matches Cynthia finds Iris struggling with Dragonite, realises that it does not yet trust humans and gently wins it over enough to pet it. Ash’s Boldore beats Geraldo’s Reuniclus with Rock Blast. Against Mamoswine, Dragonite dodges once on command, then takes Ice Shard and Take Down head-on, flips Mamoswine over, breaks free of Ice Fang and wins with Dragon Rush; Cynthia predicts that Iris and Dragonite will be formidable once they connect.
In the first semi-final, Serperior dodges Crustle’s X-Scissor and Rock Slide and defeats it with Frenzy Plant. When Alder remarks that power is not everything, Trip glares back. Dawn encourages Iris by recalling her own early struggles with Mamoswine, and the second semi-final begins with Dragonite against Ash’s Krokorok.
