Synopsis

Roy meets a mysterious rapper named Ryme who is searching for a Pokémon called the Otherworldly, and his Wattrel, struggling to fly in strong winds, evolves into Kilowattrel to save him from a fall. Observing wild Pokémon for their reports, Liko scares off a flock of White Plumage Squawkabilly, Dot’s Tinkatink chases away a group of Applin, and Roy watches a Capsakid while Fuecoco fetches it Berries, using Flame Charge to grill them straight off the tree. Wattrel tries to help but keeps being blown back by gusts and outdone by Fuecoco. At camp, Roy shows a video of Wattrel’s struggle and wonders how to restore the confidence it found when it overcame its fear of flying. That night he finds Wattrel trying and failing to fly up a tree; he and Fuecoco sing to cheer it up, and a haunting sound announces a Houndstone that bounds over and cuddles Roy until its Trainer, Ryme, calls it off. Drawn by Roy’s singing, Ryme performs a rap urging Wattrel not to run from its fears.

A Capsakid scurries out of the bushes, and Ryme explains that it is fleeing “the Otherworldly,” a frightening Pokémon from beyond this world that she is looking for. Roy turns to film the Capsakid for his report, and when he looks back Ryme and Houndstone have vanished. In the morning neither Liko nor Dot knows what the Otherworldly is, and Roy’s video of the encounter shows only a black screen. As the friends split up again, Liko’s flock of Squawkabilly flies off when Floragato and Terapagos make too much noise, and Dot films Quaxly making a rainbow with Water Gun before realising she still needs a wild subject. Fuecoco keeps gathering Berries with ease and offers one to Wattrel, which picks a fight with it out of frustration and then flies away while Roy calms Fuecoco down. Searching for Wattrel, Roy finds the Capsakid stranded on a cliff and edges down a crumbling path to reach it, leaving Fuecoco behind; the wary Capsakid bites him and fires spicy Bullet Seed into his mouth, but Roy finds the seeds tasty and wins its trust.

Holding the Capsakid, Roy can neither climb up nor go back past the collapsed path. Hearing Fuecoco’s cries, Wattrel swoops down to help despite its fear of the wind, while Hatenna and Floragato sense trouble and lead Liko and Dot to the cliff. After a struggle against the gusts, Roy passes the Capsakid to Wattrel, which carries it to safety. Roy then starts climbing up himself, insisting he is a good climber, but a rock breaks off and a gust tears him from the cliff face. Wattrel dives after him without hesitation and evolves into Kilowattrel in mid-dive; now big enough to master the wind, it catches Roy and flies him around as Liko and Dot watch in awe, though Roy is dismayed to learn that neither of them filmed the evolution. The group says goodbye to the Capsakid and moves on, with Fuecoco riding on Kilowattrel’s back, while deep in a dark, misty forest a ghostly Pokémon lurks.
