Synopsis
On a foggy mountain road Team Rocket try to snatch Pikachu to charge a stolen glowing stone; Pikachu blasts their balloon apart and the stone lands in Ash’s hands — just as Alyssa and her younger brother Thatcher arrive and accuse him of stealing it. Pikachu beats Alyssa’s Magnemite, but timid Thatcher, who has never battled, revives it with his Plusle and Minun’s Helping Hand.
When Team Rocket reappear, Thatcher recognises them as the real thieves and the stone is returned. Alyssa explains that it lights the Mountain Lighthouse and is recharged by Electric Pokémon so travellers can find their way in the fog. Thatcher decides Ash is the hero of a local prophecy and asks for training, until rolling fog sends everyone back to relight the lighthouse.
Team Rocket cut through the roof with a Zapdos-shaped robot, stealing the stone, Magnemite and Pikachu. Pikachu charges the stone so its light guides the group through the fog, Plusle and Minun restore him with Helping Hand, and Pikachu’s Thunder brings the robot down before the pair finish it with Spark. With the stone back in place and Thatcher’s confidence found, the group heads on to Mauville City.
