A Poké-BLOCK Party! is the 39th episode of Pokémon: Advanced, the sixth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 312th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 315, Bulbapedia code AG039). It first aired in Japan on 21 August 2003 and in the United States on 4 September 2004. It falls within the season’s To Mauville: the Dynamo Badge stretch (EP37–EP40).
Synopsis
In Mauville City a poster promises a year’s supply of Pokéblocks to anyone who completes the Trick House, catching the eye of the group, Team Rocket and a wild Jigglypuff. At the entrance they meet Alanna and her Whismur, and the eccentric Trick Master explains the rules before each challenger picks a door into his maze.
When James and Meowth try to steal Whismur, Jigglypuff’s Sing puts everyone to sleep and it scribbles on their faces — May and Max’s first meeting with it. Through log rolls, rope swings, hanging boxes and pitfalls Team Rocket keep sabotaging the heroes, and in the final room, disguised, they set a giant jump-rope challenge, tie everyone up and make off with Pikachu and Whismur.
Corphish cuts Ash’s group free and battles Cacnea and Seviper alongside Whismur; Crabhammer blasts the trio out of the building. The prize goes to another Trainer, Ivan, but Alanna is happy with how she and Whismur battled. Jigglypuff’s victory song puts the audience to sleep once more, and it storms off after decorating their faces — its last main-series appearance for 668 episodes.
