Plot episodeZoey’s fifth RibbonFlame Ice
Double-Time Battle Training! is the 50th episode of Pokémon DP: Galactic Battles, the twelfth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 617th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 622, Bulbapedia code DP155). It first aired in Japan on 10 December 2009 and in the United States on 1 May 2010. It falls within the season’s Towards Daybreak Town stretch (EP153–EP157).
Synopsis
Zoey wins her fifth Ribbon at Brussel Town, then helps Dawn develop new combinations for the Daybreak Contest; along the way Dawn creates “Flame Ice” but loses a Double Battle to Zoey. Candice is cheering Zoey on, and at a party afterwards Zoey explains that the Daybreak Contest uses a Double Performance round.
Zoey coaches Dawn’s combinations of Bubble Beam with Ice Beam and Whirlpool with Discharge, while Ash learns on TV that Paul has won his eighth Badge at Canalave City. Mamoswine’s Ice Shard accidentally freezes Piplup, and an attempt to electrify spinning ice traps Pachirisu.
In a Double Battle against Zoey’s new Kirlia and Leafeon, Cyndaquil’s Flame Wheel first melts Mamoswine’s ice, until Dawn, inspired by Candice’s sweet-and-spicy Tamato Berry bars, has Cyndaquil spin inside Ice Shard to create “Flame Ice”. Kirlia and Leafeon dodge it and win with Magical Leaf steered by Psychic. Jessie decides not to sabotage the girls, and Team Rocket blast themselves off.
