The Club Battle Hearts of Fury: Emolga Versus Sawk! is the 41st episode of Pokémon: Black & White, the fourteenth season of the Pokémon anime, and the 694th episode of the English dub overall (Japanese episode 699, Bulbapedia code BW041). It first aired in Japan on 4 August 2011 and in the United States on 12 November 2011. It falls within the season’s Don George’s Club Battle stretch (EP39–EP42).
BW041 to BW046 premiered closer to their Japanese broadcasts than any English episodes since DP052.
Synopsis
Ash and Iris both reach the Club Battle semi-finals, while Cilan is knocked out by Luke’s Larvesta. Snivy’s Leaf Blade cancels Pawniard’s Guillotine, leaving it stuck in the ground, and Leaf Storm finishes it, making Ash the first semi-finalist. Dino’s Tranquill then defeats Antonio’s Cottonee.
Cilan’s Stunfisk faces Luke’s Larvesta, whose String Shot traps it; Cilan lets Flamethrower burn the threads away and Stunfisk even flies, but Larvesta takes to the air on its own flames and wins with Flamethrower.
In the last quarter-final, Stephan’s Sawk overwhelms Emolga with Close Combat and Double Kick until Emolga’s Static paralyses it. Iris uses repeated Attracts to draw out Close Combat until Sawk’s muscles lock up, and Emolga, finally obeying her, wins with Volt Switch. The semi-finals are set as Ash against Dino and Iris against Luke, and Palpitoad faces Dino’s Darumaka.
