Synopsis
Back at Professor Juniper’s lab, Ash helps a nervous new Trainer named Nanette choose her first partner and rescue it from Team Rocket, who have returned to chasing Pikachu with a new Frillish and Amoonguss. Ash first walks the overcautious girl across a bridge, telling her that sometimes you just have to go for it, and Professor Oak congratulates him by video on his Top 8 finish until Muk smothers him.
Iris and Cilan agree to keep travelling with Ash, and Nanette, on Cilan’s advice, picks the lively Tepig. During a Tag Battle of Pikachu and Tepig against Emolga and Stunfisk, Team Rocket attack: Jessie’s Frillish and James’s Amoonguss blanket the field with Mist and Stun Spore and carry the fainted Pikachu towards their machine.
Remembering Ash’s advice, Nanette has Tepig free Pikachu with Ember, and Unfezant knocks out Frillish and Amoonguss. Pikachu bursts the escaping balloon with Electro Ball while Unfezant catches the falling Tepig. Juniper’s father, Cedric, calls about newly found White Ruins near Dragonspiral Tower that may hold clues to Reshiram, so the group sets sail by way of Aspertia City as a young man named N begins a journey of his own.
